Surveyor Training Standard — Version 1.0
The ASF Surveyor Training Standard (ASF-SURV-STD-v1) was completed and published in April 2022. The standard establishes six domains: eligibility and candidacy; training programme design (ISO 21001); training delivery; competency assessment (ISO/IEC 17024); ongoing currency and re-certification; and programme governance. Public consultation ran for 30 days in February 2022. One pilot assessment exercise was conducted with two candidate surveyors in Georgia.
Conflict of interest — first recusal
One Council member was recused from the Surveyor Training Standard revision on grounds of a prior professional relationship with a candidate surveyor training provider. The recusal was managed by the Chair in accordance with the COI procedure, recorded in the revision file, and is disclosed here. The member resumed full Council participation for all other work.
Revision proposals
Five revision proposals were received across both published standards. Two were accepted: one proposing clearer means of verification for Standard H-4 (surgical safety checklist), and one proposing an additional self-assessment question on infection prevention in the ambulatory standard. Three proposals were deferred to the next scheduled revision cycle.
Long-Term Care — scoping begun
The Council opened scoping for a Long-Term Care Standard, recognising that no existing international standard adequately addressed residential elderly care in the LMIC context. Evidence review began in Q4 2022 with a Revision Panel of four.
