Clinical expertise, global purpose.

ASF surveyors are experienced clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, quality professionals and public health specialists who want to apply their expertise beyond their home institutions. They come from hospitals, academic medical centres, public health agencies and international organisations.

What they share: a commitment to quality in settings where it is hardest to sustain, and a belief that the standard of care a patient receives should not depend on the economic geography of the hospital treating them.

Languages: English required. French, Russian, Arabic or regional languages of ASF’s priority countries are strong assets.

What surveyors do

A survey is a working session, not an inspection.

Document review (remote)

Review of the facility’s quality documentation, indicators, incident reports and patient council minutes against ASF standards. Conducted remotely before the site visit. Typically 4–6 hours.

Site assessment

On-site assessment of patient pathways, safe practices, staff training records and physical environment using the ASF tracer methodology — following real patient journeys through the facility.

Patient council session

Attendance at or review of the patient council meeting. The patient voice is assessed as a substantive standard, not a checkbox. This is a structural requirement of ASF accreditation.

Staff conversations

Structured conversations with clinical and non-clinical staff. Safety-culture survey results reviewed and discussed. The surveyor is a coach, not an auditor.

Survey report

A written survey report produced within 10 working days of the site visit. Findings and recommendations submitted to the ASF accreditation committee, which makes the accreditation decision independently.

ASF surveyor training programme covering standards interpretation, tracer methodology, patient council assessment, report writing and professional ethics. Ongoing CPD through ASF Academy.

Operational support

Travel costs covered. Accommodation arranged. A lead surveyor partners with you on every survey until you are confident to lead independently. All logistics coordinated by ASF.
