Patient and Public Council
Accreditation exists to improve the experience of patients — not to serve the interests of administrators. Patient voice is present in ASF governance at every level.
Role
- Patient and public perspective in all standards development and revision
- Formal right of comment before any standards change is adopted
- Contributes to the ADC pool: at least one patient-advocate background per year
- Manages and reviews the public concern reporting channel
- Publishes an annual patient perspective note in the accountability report
Composition
Minimum 5 members including patient advocates, patient experience researchers, and representatives of patient organisations. No current employees of ASF-accredited facilities. Chair elected by Council members.
Report a Concern About an Accredited Facility
Any patient, family member, staff member, or member of the public can report a concern. Confidential. Identity protected. ASF responds within 30 days. Substantive concerns trigger unannounced re-verification.
