International Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities

ASF Governance & Policy Manual · ASF-POL-29

Safety, Security and Duty of Care

Part of the ASF Governance & Policy Manual. Adapted from the PHIG Institutional Policy Manual (consolidated edition, September 2026) for donor due-diligence readiness (US, EU, UN and French government funders) alongside ISQua Organisation Accreditation.

No assessment deadline is worth a serious risk to a person’s safety; any Coordinator, Monitor or Secretariat member may refuse or leave an unsafe situation — including an in-facility verification visit — without penalty. Owner: ASF Secretariat.

This applies with particular weight to facilities in Crisis (CR) or Transitional (TR) classifications, where the continuous-engagement model described on Standards Development already builds in schedule flexibility for exactly this reason.

ASF provides relevant safety information to Monitors before travel to an unfamiliar facility or region, and reviews any safety incident under ASF-POL-21.
