Apply for ASF Accreditation or Certification
Registration is by email. There is no application fee. What happens next depends on which pathway you choose.
Before you apply: Run the free self-assessment first. It takes 1–3 hours, requires no account, and gives you a complete gap report. Many facilities discover they need 3–6 months of preparation before formal registration is worthwhile. That preparation is free.
How to Apply
Send an email to info@accreditation.ge
Subject line: “Accreditation application — [facility name], [country]” or “Certification application — [facility name], [country]”. Include: facility name, type (hospital, ambulatory, PHC, LTC, home care, telemedicine, fitness/wellness), country, city, approximate number of beds or annual patient visits, and the name and email of the person who will be the Accreditation Coordinator.
Receive your registration confirmation and Delegation of Authority form
Within 5 working days you receive a registration confirmation, your facility ID, the Delegation of Authority form for the Director to sign, and instructions for naming your four roles.
Complete Coordinator certification
Your named Coordinator completes the 8-hour online training and 80% examination on GMJ Academy. This typically takes 2–3 weeks alongside other duties. The credential is valid for 3 years.
Pay the annual registration fee
Invoice issued after Coordinator certification. Fees are income-adjusted by World Bank tier — see the complete fee schedule. Payment by bank transfer.
Begin your Q1 self-assessment
With your facility account active, your Coordinator begins the Q1 full self-assessment. The 12-month cycle starts from this date. For certification pathway, the local NAP partner is engaged at this stage.
Which Pathway?
ASF Certification — Entry pathway
Requires a local NAP partner in your country. Currently available in Georgia via PHIG. Lighter thresholds, faster timeline, local decision. Silver badge.
ASF Accreditation — Full international
Available in every country. Independent ADC decision. 12–24 month cycle. Gold badge. Global registry.
What You Do Not Need
- A consultant. The standards and guidance are free and complete.
- A pre-assessment visit. Your self-assessment is the pre-assessment.
- Documentation in English. All assessment is in your national language.
- A minimum facility size. The Small Facility Track exists for clinics with under 20 staff.
- Prior accreditation experience. Most first-time applicants have never been accredited by anyone.
Eligibility
ASF accreditation is open to any healthcare organisation operating a service type covered by an ASF standard, regardless of ownership type (public, private, non-profit, faith-based), size, or country. The organisation must have been operating continuously for at least 6 months at the time of application. Accreditation is granted to the whole organisation for the applicable service type — accreditation of individual departments or units within a service is not conducted.

Survey Team
Every ASF survey is conducted by a two-person team: a Lead Surveyor (Coordinator) who leads the assessment and authors the report, and an Associate Surveyor (Monitor) who assesses assigned standards domains. Survey duration is two days for most facilities, three days for hospitals with more than 200 beds. Neither surveyor may have a conflict of interest with your organisation.
Costs
Your organisation is responsible for reasonable surveyor travel and accommodation costs: economy-class flights, standard ground transport, and minimum four-star (4★) hotel accommodation. Language
Surveys are conducted in English by default. Where your facility operates primarily in another language, ASF will deploy surveyors with relevant language competency where available, or facilitate interpretation. All translation and interpretation costs are borne by the applicant organisation. See Language Policy →
After Accreditation
Accreditation is granted for a 3-year cycle. During this period your organisation must notify ASF within 30 days of any significant change to governance, ownership, service scope, or regulatory status. Misuse of the ASF accreditation mark — including use after suspension, withdrawal, or expiry — is prohibited. See Post-Accreditation Obligations →
