ASF Indicator Programme
A shared, cross-facility set of quality indicators, submitted quarterly by accredited facilities, building toward the first public ASF Benchmark Report.

Where this stands today: the framework, the indicator set, and the submission process below are live and ready. ASF does not yet have enough accredited facilities reporting to publish a meaningful aggregate benchmark — that comes once volume supports it, honestly stated rather than published prematurely with a handful of data points presented as a trend. Every accredited facility can start submitting from their very first quarterly cycle.
Why a Shared Indicator Set
Self-assessment tells a facility how it compares to the standard. An indicator programme tells a facility how it compares to other facilities like it — and gives ASF, over time, a real evidence base for which criteria actually predict better outcomes. This is a long game: the value compounds as more facilities report, the same way it took ACHS’s Clinical Indicator Program years to become the reference it is today.
The Starter Indicator Set
Ten indicators, chosen because they are already collected by most facilities in some form, map directly to the Universal Patient Safety Priorities, and are simple enough to submit without new infrastructure.

How Submission Works
Coordinators submit indicator data as part of the existing quarterly cycle — no separate system, no extra login. Data is submitted at facility level and never published in a way that identifies an individual facility without its explicit consent; aggregate reporting only.
- Submitted quarterly, alongside the standard Q1–Q4 self-assessment cycle.
- A facility can submit as few or as many of the 10 indicators as it currently tracks — partial participation is welcome.
- Facility-level data stays confidential; only de-identified aggregates appear in any public report.
The Benchmark Report
Once at least 20 facilities are actively reporting, ASF will publish its first Benchmark Report: aggregate results by facility type, income tier, and region, with year-on-year trends as the dataset matures. Until then, this page itself is the public commitment — the framework exists, is being used from day one of accreditation, and the report will follow the data, not the other way round.
