ASF established a Continuing Medical Education Committee in 2020 with a single purpose: to give health professionals a reliable way to plan, attend and prove their continuing education. The committee accredits courses, trainings, workshops and conferences — online and in person, local and international — and issues CME credits for them. It also helps organizers design and run activities to an accreditable standard.

The programme is evidence-based and directed at patient care: its expectation is that better-qualified professionals produce measurably better clinical decisions and outcomes. Credits are competency-based, with European CME/CPD standards used as the reference point. In the Georgian pilot, 20 activities were accredited and 306 CME certificates issued at three accredited events, and the ASF Basic Standard required 50 credits a year for doctors and 25 for nurses.

In 2026 the programme became ASF CPD Accreditation — accrediting providers, courses and activities under the Training & Education Standards — and the ASF Passport, a single verifiable CPD record per individual. Every CME certificate ever issued under the programme remains on record and verifiable.
