What this is
A structured check of your facility against the ASF Health Standards V10. It asks each criterion that applies to your facility type, and shows where you already meet the standard and where you still have work to do. It is the tool assessors use in a formal accreditation.
Why it matters
Accreditation under ASF is renewed every three years. Between accreditations, run the self-assessment each year: each run gives a baseline, and the gap report shows what to work on next.
The standard: ASF Health Standards V10
11 standards and 97 criteria in total. Your facility type uses only the standards that apply to it. Some criteria are non-negotiable and must be met for accreditation, whatever the facility type.
What you need before you start
- The number of staff in each group
- Your policies, procedures and records, for evidence
- Time to work through the criteria. You can save and come back.
After your self-assessment
Keep the results for internal improvement, apply for ASF certification through a local partner, or register for full ASF accreditation (a 12 to 24 month process).
