Why these signs exist
Georgian hospitals had a problem that nobody had solved: no consistent, affordable wayfinding. Every facility drew its own signs, or bought expensive ones, or had none — and patients, especially older patients and those who do not read easily, got lost. During the accreditation work with hospitals, this came up again and again, in surveys and in the patient councils. So ASF, the Public Health Institute of Georgia and David Tvildiani Medical University developed a complete set: fifty-six standardised pictogram signs covering every department and service a hospital or clinic needs, in Georgian, with the international symbols patients recognise from any country.
The set is published here free of charge, for any facility to print and use, with one condition — keep the ASF mark. It is also part of what the ASF standards ask for: Standard 1 (Access & Arrival) requires a clearly marked emergency entrance, and Standard 2 (Reception & Information) requires that patients can find registration, waiting areas and departments without asking. A facility that hangs these signs is already answering those criteria.
Terms and design
Any healthcare facility, anywhere, may print, display and reproduce these signs free of charge, without asking. The only condition is that the ASF mark and QR code at the foot of each sign stay in place, so that patients can always find out what the sign system is and who stands behind it. No modification of the pictogram or colour; the text may be translated for use outside Georgia, with the ASF mark retained.
Green pictogram on white for wayfinding and safe-condition information, in the international public-information sign style; red prohibition rings for restricted access. Every sign carries the ASF seal and a QR code that opens the sign’s own page here, so a patient — or a facility manager — can scan any sign in any hospital and reach the whole system.
