Hospital Standard — first scheduled review
The Hospital Standard completed its first annual monitoring review. No substantive revision was triggered. Three external revision proposals were received: one proposing a stronger criterion on patient identification, one on emergency escalation, and one on surgical safety. One proposal — on patient identification — was accepted and incorporated into a minor amendment (ASF-HOSP-STD-v1.1), published in June 2021. The other two were deferred to the next scheduled full revision.
Ambulatory Clinic Standard — Version 1.0
The first edition of the ASF Ambulatory Clinic Standard (ASF-AMBU-STD-v1) was completed. The standard covers 25 base standards plus specialty endorsements from dental to oncology. Public consultation ran for 30 days in August 2021. Two pilot sites were used — one general ambulatory clinic and one dental practice. The standard was published in November 2021.
Surveyor Training Standard — scoping phase
The Council opened the scoping phase for the Surveyor Training Standard. The decision to ground it in two distinct ISO instruments — ISO 21001 for programme design and ISO/IEC 17024 for person certification — was approved. A Revision Panel of three was convened. No declarations of interest were triggered. Drafting was expected to begin in Q1 2022.
Council expanded
One new Council member was appointed, bringing total membership to five. Updated declarations of interest were collected from all members. No conflicts were identified.

In 2022, ASF planned to complete the Surveyor Training Standard and begin drafting standards for long-term care.
