International Accreditation of Healthcare Facilities

ASF Tourism Governance & Policy · TOUR-POL-06

Governance & Board Structure

Part of the ASF Tourism Governance & Policies set. Adapted from ASF-POL-42 (institutional Governance and Board Charter), run as ASF Tourism’s own instance of the same structure — not shared decision-making with ASF’s healthcare accreditation work.

1. A separate board, the same structure

ASF Tourism is accountable to its own Tourism Board — the body that holds final authority over the Standard, accreditation decisions, and this policy set. It is built on the same charter principles as ASF’s healthcare Council (minimum membership, declared-conflict screening, fixed terms), and may share individual members where that person’s expertise genuinely applies to both — but it convenes, records minutes, and decides Tourism matters separately. A healthcare accreditation decision never passes through the Tourism Board, and a Tourism decision never passes through ASF’s healthcare Council.

2. What the Board holds authority over

  • Developing and approving the ASF Tourism Standard and every criterion in it
  • Making, or delegating to a Tourism accreditation review, the decision on whether a facility is accredited
  • Approving every policy in this set and ensuring it is followed
  • Appointing and renewing Surveyors, Coordinators, and Monitors for Tourism work specifically

3. Legal footing

ASF Tourism operates under Accréditation Sans Frontières, the French association (Loi du 1 juillet 1901) declared to the Préfecture de Police de Paris on 18/06/2020, registered RNA W751257030, SIRET 88807681700012. Tourism is a distinct programme within that single legal entity, not a separate company — the same honest framing used throughout this site.

4. Board member orientation

A new Tourism Board member completes an orientation on the Standard, the firewall between standard-writing and accreditation decisions (TOUR-POL-02), the Conflict of Interest policy (TOUR-POL-01), and confidentiality obligations, before taking part in a first decision.

5. Separation from ASF’s other products

ASF’s ISO 9001 Ready documentation packs are a separate, purchasable product line — standardised templates helping any facility prepare for ISO certification issued by an unrelated ISO certification body. They are not bespoke advice and never a precondition or shortcut for ASF Tourism accreditation. No individual who has advised a facility through ISO Ready then serves as that facility’s Surveyor, Coordinator, or Monitor, or takes part in its accreditation decision.
