Recovery and Discharge After Sedation or Anaesthesia — Criteria Score

What it is

A modified Aldrete score for discharge from recovery to the ward (≥ 9 of 10) and a post-anaesthetic discharge score for going home after day-case sedation or anaesthesia (≥ 9 of 10 plus an escort and written instructions), with the record and the instructions given.

Where to use it

Recovery area; day-case unit; endoscopy; dental sedation. Evidence for: Hospital Standard 4 — post-anaesthesia care; Standard 6 — discharge.
