Safe Childbirth Checklist

What it is

The WHO Safe Childbirth Checklist as a one-page A4: 29 items across four pause points, covering the major causes of maternal death (haemorrhage, infection, obstructed labour, hypertensive disorders) and newborn death (birth asphyxia, infection, complications of prematurity), with the record line.

Where to use it

On every labour-ward chart; laminated at the delivery bed; the midwife or birth attendant reads it aloud at each pause.
