ASF accepts funds and gifts only when they advance its mission and leave its science, editorial work and public health advice fully independent. Owner: Ethics Focal Point.

Due diligence

Before signing any income agreement over 5,000 EUR, the Ethics and Compliance Officer checks: identity and ownership, sanctions lists, adverse media, links to refused industries, and any condition that could compromise independence. The result is recorded; unresolved concerns go to the Chair.

Restricted gifts

Funds restricted to a purpose are recorded separately and spent only on that purpose. If the purpose cannot be met, ASF asks the donor in writing before redirecting the funds.

In-kind gifts

Equipment, services and publications are accepted only if they are useful, legal and carry no hidden obligation. They are recorded at fair value in the asset or gift register.

Personal gifts to staff

Donor privacy and recognition

ASF publishes the names of its institutional funders and the amounts received each year. Individual donors may ask to remain anonymous to the public, but never to ASF’s compliance checks.
